thanks conwyn….i can understand that but when we use different commands to troubleshoot STP there is the main confusion….designated root cost in the output displays the root path cost and it should add path cost after entering other switches, i mean in ur scenario R3 is the root so when we will telnet R1 and type SH SPANTREE it will show root cost as 10, for R2 it will be 0 and for R0 it will be 10…..and the path cost under local bridge detail will always be the same…….am i getting all ths rite???
