NIC for Switches to be connected to GNS3

Im not sure if there has been a discussion on this or not.

I’m planning to buy 4, L3 switches (3550) to connect to my GNS network at home but i have to zero in on the hardware to support that

please clear my doubts on this and also help me in deciding the hardware required

I currently have a quad core processor so thats cool. RAM is also ok

now comes the NIC card.. i believe in order to connect to 4 switches i would need a 4 Port NIC or 2×2 if a 2 port is available.

When I searched for the same on google.com, I got few 4 port *Server* NIC cards.

1) Will the above work in desktops as well

2) Could you please suggest a NIC for my lab and a motherborad if the card requires a somewhat diff motherboard. .. ( i have an ASUS mb with 2 PCIEx and 1 PCI)

Thanks in Advance.
