Hi friends, soon it will be Christmas but next year is already starting to paint the following picture: The merger of two equals, one being a Juniper shop and another being a Cisco shop. Right now things are frozen.
Somebody here must have done this before. Can you please direct me to good background info and links for Best Practices? What routing and switching protocols could be more troublesome to implement, what could be less painful/more stable?
.
The merger will could touch distributed computing cores in the datacenter too. (i.e. one datacenter is Cisco-centric routing/switching and the other is Juniper centric R/S and active/active ESX failover & SAN. Not sure if the teams CAN go to lunch together…. stand on opposite sides of the room at the Christmas party thinking strategy on how to bully 2011 procurement…
The first steps are just extending L2, then optimizing the carrier managed MPLS handoff’s (i.e. bring up QOS (VoIP/SQL/SAN) across private clouds and make the intelligence within Cisco site available at the Juniper site over fiber links. Goals are to enhance routing/switching replicated chatty ERP apps, perhaps using riverbed as well.
Any one read papers they can share?
